Terms and Conditions
Drivers & hirers agree to be bound by the terms & conditions outlined in detail in the Rental Agreement (terms-conditions-rental-agreement.pdf).
Unauthorised drivers &/or usage will void the Rental Agreement & damage cover.
All hirers carry an insurance excess & damage liability. We will accept drivers under the age of 25 after contact and appraisal.
Cars may NOT be driven on any unsealed roads – fines apply.
Fuel is on a same-to-same basis.
No food or drink to be consumed in car.
All cars are strictly “non-smoking” – fines apply.
Credit Card details &/or a cash deposit are held for the duration of the hire as security against the safe return of the car & the relevant liabilities as per the Rental Agreement. (Amex & Diners are not accepted).
Payment may be by credit card, EFTPOS, $AUD travellers cheques or cash at the time of commencing the hire.
We generally require that a non-refundable deposit is paid to secure a booking. If booking on-line or through another booking agent or travel centre, this will be the cost of the rental period in full. There can be no refund for bookings cancelled less than 7 days prior to commencement of the hire. Exceptions may be made for customers who can verify a medical condition which prevented them from honouring the rental booking. Alternatively the Gem Rent-A-Car management team would be pleased to arrange a credit for your next opportunity to hire. In order to mitigate against unforeseen adverse circumstances, it is HIGHLY recommended that customers protect their financial investments in holiday bookings with a comprehensive travel insurance policy that covers cancellation of car hire bookings.
